A bit about me
In 2008, I completed my undergraduate degree in Co-op Biochemisty at the University of Guelph. During this time, I was named the University of Guelph's "Co-op Student of the Year" in Science and Engineering during a highly productive co-op term in the lab of Dr. Nina Jones. With the support of a CIHR Master's Award, I continued on in the Jones lab and completed a Master's degree in Molecular Biology, with a specialty in Neuroscience, and graduated at the end of 2010.
Since graduating, I've worked in a variety of high-performance research labs in Canada and the United States. When I joined the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in 2016, I transitioned from the bench research I was conducting at SickKids to a clinical data management position. In this role, I created large, multi-user databases to manage research and recruitment data for the Slaight Family Centre for Youth in Transition. After two years, I was promoted to REDCap Project Lead at CAHM, where I oversaw the use of REDCap for research, clinical trials, and clinical data collection. In 2022, I joined Alphabet's life science research organization, Verily, as a Clinical Data Manager. I also currently teach a class on REDCap at Seneca College.
To focus my data management skills through a lens of strategy and business development, I completed a second Master's degree in Health Informatics (EMHI) at the University of Toronto in 2020. Though completing a full-time degree while concurrently working full-time at CAMH was not without its challenges, the experience has proven to be a major asset that has allowed me to reexamine my work from a high-level, strategic perspective, first at CAMH and now at Verily
